During the season, are we allowed to drop and add a player? Or do we have to buy them out before dropping them? Just wanted to clarify because I see stuff about buy outs in the rules.
Thanks

Is there playoff? Rule section 1.8 "All tie-breakers (Playoff seed position/draft order) will be decided as follows" But I don't see any playoff setting on Fantrax

Thanks I'm pretty sure it says everyone gets 1 buyout. Rules should be specific about that. only time you would be 'dropping guys' - is in trades/or sending them to the IR/or to the minors if they are on a 2-way deal if this doesn't answer your question, let me know

We will put it to a vote on what type of playoff it is going to be. we can do a playoff in the last month of the regular season in the real NHL as our playoff OR we can do a live draft of all new players making up playoff rosters for the teams that make the playoffs, using stats from the NHL playoffs. Before we vote I would need to guarantee with fantrax that we can do that.

That brings up another point. If we make a 2 for 1 trade where I receive 2, do I have to "buy out" one of my players, or can I just drop him?

Also adding any free agent = need signing a new contract. Don't think you can just drop anyone when trading because their contract still exist...how can they suddenly become free agent? I think when commish said 'dropping' he means moving player away from pro roster (therefore trade to another team, move to IR, or move to minors) The whole setting is to simulate real NHL experience.

I have read the rules and am a bit confused on signing contracts.
Are we allowed to only sign 3 RFA a year.
All UFA are bid on by anyone and we can't sign any extensions

No we can resign all RFA we want but only 1 to a long term deal......we can extend long term three UFA that's what I understood after we discussed this with commish when league was half full

What is long term ? And I'm pretty sure in the rules it says we can sign 3 players per year

you can sign 3 players to long-term contracts (2-5yrs) AND 1 of those long-term deals can be given to an RFA you can also sign any RFA to a 1yr deal.
hopefully that helps

You have the option to re-sign players that are about to become a UFA, up to 3 of them each year. A UFA is someone that you haven't re-signed.

If I have a center who has dual eligibility on the wing, if I slow him on the wing (LW) will he still get face off wins or does he have to be in the center position?

Guys rules for the ROSTER need cleaned up in my opinion......
We need defined penalties for cap overage, floor circumvention and illegal/incomplete rosters
It appears clear and fair on cap overage penalty
Cap floor I would suggest loss of say a 4th rounder for first offense and 3rd rounder for second offense 2nd rounder for 3rd offense 1st for 4th offense and 5th offense in one season you are put up for removal
Incomplete/illegal rosters....just as in the real NHL you have to dress a full team.....you cannot store 3 ahl players in starting slots to circumvent cap issues etc....now if you want to store them on the bench that's fine but the starting slots need real life NHL players.....same goes for injured players.....common penalty for this is loss of draft picks similar to above
